Teen Summer Program 2026

Investing in the Next Generation of Changemakers

This summer, 48 teens came together in Washington, DC, for the Teen Summer Program 2026, a unique three-week experience designed to inspire learning, collaboration, and meaningful connections.

During these weeks, participants explored how young people can help shape the future through global citizenship, community engagement, institutional knowledge, and personal development. From inspiring seminars and mock parliaments to development-focused projects, they had the opportunity to learn, exchange ideas, and discover new ways to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.

IDB specialists, volunteers, and collaborators opened their doors and shared their knowledge, experiences, and passion for international development. They answered questions, challenged ideas, and gave participants a glimpse into the many different ways people can contribute to building a better future.

For the teens, these encounters were a chance to learn beyond the classroom and connect what they discussed during the program with the real-world work being done every day. And for the adults involved, it was a chance to listen, learn from the next generation, and be reminded of the importance of creating spaces where young people can explore their ideas and find their voice.

We always acknowledge what great work can be done when organizations and communities come together around a shared purpose.

We are especially grateful to our colleagues and partners from the World Bank Family Network (WBFN) and the International Monetary Fund Family Association (IMFFA), whose support and collaboration helped make this experience even more meaningful.

The program was made possible through the joint efforts of these Family Associations, whose teams dedicated countless hours to planning, coordinating, and creating an experience that would stay with participants long after the summer ended.

And to our 48 teens…

Thank you for bringing your curiosity, energy, ideas, and questions to the program.

We hope you leave this experience knowing that your voice matters, that your ideas can make a difference, and that there are many ways for you to contribute to the world around you.

And to every specialist, volunteer, collaborator, and organizer who helped make these three weeks possible: thank you for investing your time, sharing your knowledge, and believing in the next generation.
